Tragic Plastic for President

JD Taylor, freelance DGA 1st AD and on- staff Director for Red Fish Films, recently completed shooting a music video for local band Tragic Plastic. The band, which just released the singles ÔAir Force One' and ÔHooker' off their debut album, is getting airplay on both WREK and WRAS. Front man Tom DeLaney chose JD after the two discussed their vision for the band and the song, and after viewing JD's recent directing venture, a 9 camera documentary featuring local bands in a tribute to Neil Young. Shot all on green, the video concept portrays DeLaney as a child pretending to be the President. The band is his Secret Service detail. The concept combines performance footage with a 60's mod punk attitude and scenarios with cartoon-like oversized props bathed in primary colors to create a high energy feel with eye popping visuals.

Other credits on the job include local cinematographer Bill Burton, Art Director Georgeanne Olive, and Wardrobe Designer Pam Tripp. Crew and vendors donated their time and services to support JD in his first big directing venture. PC&E donated their new High Definition camera package, the grip and electric gear, and their large cyc wall, which had been painted green by a previous client. Andrew Ballard donated a Presidential Seal and real Secret Service pins and ear pieces for total authenticity.
