DOUD DOES BERLIN

Jeff Doud, Creative Director at R!OT Atlanta, is one of ten emerging Atlanta artists selected to participate in a unique exhibition at GALLERY twenty-four in Berlin, Germany. Titled Transatlantic, the exhibition examines various aspects of culture concerning humanity, technology, nature and spirituality.

GALLERY twenty-four, located in the former East German borough of Friedrichshain, is Berlin's premier gallery for undiscovered artists.

Doud, who pursues fine art when not designing for television commercials and broadcast media at R!OT, contributed 13 new works to the exhibition. Each is a collage composed of images from popular media and layered blocks of color representing social, political and environmental themes.

"The work is motivated by a desire to reflect a picture of America as it exists in 2004, " explained Doud. "We are living in a time of strife, a time when we must weigh our priorities and state once again to the world what we value and what we must grow through." Although the work takes on serious themes, Doud describes its tone as "light-hearted and quirky." "It's meant to be wry and humorous, " he said. "The paintings represent concerns of mine, but do so in a way that makes people laugh."

Doud is a three-time Emmy winner for his work in designing show openings, network branding campaigns and commercials. He has been painting for 14 years. His work has also been shown in galleries in West Palm Beach, Florida and Atlanta.
