Best Employers in Georgia

Women in Technology (WIT), a society of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), has announced the winners for the 2004 WIT's Best Employers in Georgia Awards. The 2004 WIT's Best Employers Program theme "Play to Win-Win-Win" emphasizes the importance of driving success for one's personal goals, their organization, and the community. The winners in each award categories are as follows:

Inclusion: The Weather Channel - The Weather Channel offers flexible work options and is committed to developing women leaders, resulting in 42 percent of the Executive Team being comprised of women. The Weather Channel, based in Atlanta, provides weather information to over 87 million TV households in the United States.

Balance: MATRIX Resources, Inc - MATRIX has implemented a retention strategy which includes work-life balance training, flextime, telework as well as a flagship Job Share program that was designed by women for women, resulting in a low, two percent turnover rate. MATRIX provides the business community with IT staffing, talent acquisition programs and project solutions.

Executive Development: Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.) -TBS, Inc.'s executive succession planning, the "Turner Women Today" program and "Turner's Emerging Leader Program" provide women the opportunity to develop leadership skills. The success of these initiatives is evident with 35 percent of its executive team being comprised of women. TBS, Inc. is the home to CNN, TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, and Turner Classic Movies, which produce news and entertainment product that is available worldwide.

Best Overall: EarthLink - EarthLink's Talent Acquisition and Development processes, cross-functional training, and Leadership Development Series demonstrate EarthLink's dedicated commitment to its employees. EarthLink is a leading Atlanta-based Internet Service Provider (ISP).

"Georgia employers are increasingly recognizing the value of leveraging women in executive positions, " said WIT President Kasie Scott Palmer, Vice President of Customer Advocacy at Computer Associates. "By honoring those companies that support the advancement of women in their technology careers, WIT hopes to aid both women searching for those employers, as well as employers seeking to enhance the role of women in their companies."
