Synchronized Sound Upgrades to Fairlight
Synchronized Sound has added Fairlight MFX3 digital audio workstations to its arsenal. In addition, A Control has been completely re-equipped with the Fairlight F.A.M.E. system, a digital mixing console integrated with the editor, as well as a complete digital audio routing matrix. The new system allows for a completely digital room, all the way from the D2 and digital beta machines and EditBox through the entire post process to layback. The F.A.M.E. allows a digital suite combined with a reliable editing station and seamless integration. Other concerns were the stability and speed of the backup and restore process as well as the editor. Dedicated keys reduce the number of keystrokes needed significantly, the screen redraw is almost instantaneous, and just about all of the DSP functions happen in real time. When combined with the V-Mod random access digital video recorder, the entire process shows a significant difference in the amount of time projects are being completed. Backup and restore are sixteen times real time with outstanding reliability.
Eventual plans include networking all three Fairlight systems, allowing sharing of sound files and sound effects between rooms simultaneously, as well as backup and restore off line. All of the 300 plus sound effect CD's will be stored on hard drives and networked between the suites, allowing for the entire library to be on-line all the time in all of the rooms.
