WestWayne Takes Turkey Dinner WestWayne Takes Turkey Dinner

The hungry folks at WestWayne, Inc. gobbled up top awards in February at the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association conference in Chicago. The integrated marketing communications agency won the Gold Award for Publix’s Thanksgiving TV spot, which shows the up and downs of being a salt and pepper shaker during one family’s turkey dinner. Art Director Tom McMahon and Copywriter Beth Dzengolewski are credited for their work on this spot. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the NAPA “Tipping/Roadkill/Bear” campaign won an award, while “Tipping” was chosen as a finalist. The campaign targeted “do-it-yourselfers” with the chance to win a Hummer and other in-store promotions. Those part of the campaign’s success were Creative Directors Ted Nelson and Gene Powers, Art Director Rodney Westbury and Copywriter Adam Moroze. Another WestWayne client, BellSouth Mobility, also placed as a finalist for “Baseball,” the odd spot featuring a man trying to play catch with a less than interested buffalo. Creative Director Roy Trimble and Copywriter Adam Moroze developed this idea.

WestWayne also received honorable mentions for BellSouth Cellular’s “Paint Store/Gophers/Bulldog” campaign and Publix’s “Driver’s License” TV spot. The creative team for BellSouth included Creative Director Luke Sullivan, Art Director Clay Davies, Copywriter Scott Biear, and Producer Danica Walker. Art Director Jennifer Martin, Producer Lori Lawery and Copywriter Beth Dzengolewski provided the creative backbone for “Driver’s License.” WestWayne’s Tampa offices manage the Publix accounts, while BellSouth Mobility and NAPA Auto Parts accounts originate in Atlanta.
