The Atlanta Film & Video Festival’s Digi-ATL gives independent filmmakers a peak at the height of technological advancement on Saturday, May 20. The Atlanta Film & Video Festival will hold its first annual technology sidebar to open up the brave new frontier of technology to independent filmmakers. Held at Georgia Institute of Technology’s Georgia Center for Advanced Telecommunications, DIGI-ATL: The Atlanta Film & Video Festival Media Showcase will be the premiere location in the Southeast for independent filmmakers and their audiences to explore new technologies through a series of panel discussions, continuous screening of independent works, internet demonstration sites and demonstration centered vendor booths.

Panel topics will focus on digital production, promotion and distribution, and may include such topics as Analog vs. Digital (digital film conversion, digital vs. film aesthetic concerns, and screening of various formats), digital production, digital animation, distribution via the web and DVD, CD-ROM, and other new forms of media; interactive digital works, including a case study of a film from the Festival; web-based marketing of artists and their works and the educational possibilities of new media. Computer kiosks located in the New Technology Center will allow web access to the AFVF and sponsor sites, including Festival trailers and select films on the CinemaNow website. Digi-ATL will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on May 20 and is free and open to the public.
